Breakfast Sandwich Heaven

*This recipe was modified on 2/06/2013 to reflect the most current Medifast guidelines*

1 Medifast Chocolate Chip Pancake Packet
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup water
2 TB eggbeaters
1 Morningstar Farms Breakfast Sausage Patty
1 oz moderate fat cheese (3-6 grams fat/oz)

To make muffin:
Mix together Medifast pancake packet, 1/8 tsp baking powder and 1/4 cup water. Spray coffee mug with Pam. Pour pancake mix into mug. Microwave for 1.5 minutes. Slice muffin in half.

To make egg:
Spray coffee mug or small ramekin with Pam. Pour in 2 TB of eggbeaters. Microwave for 1 minute or until egg is done.

Heat up the Morningstar Farms Breakfast Sausage Patty in the microwave from frozen for about 45 seconds. Assemble muffin, egg, sausage & cheese between the sliced muffin. Enjoy!

Variation: replace 1-2 TB of the water in the muffin with Walden Farms Syrup for a McGriddle clone. Be sure to add 1 more condiment if you do that.

This counts as 1 Medifast meal, .58 leanest serving, 1/2 condiments

Very good. I just need a wider coffee mug - the "biscuit" came out thicker than I like.
Thanks for sharing!
I am not sure how microwave safe it really is, but I have used the Medifast shaker cup that came with my first order to make the muffin and it turned out the perfect size.

It was delicious! Thanks so much. I couldn't figure out how to make my pancakes fluffy until I put them in the microwave. Also this is a very filling meal, even without the sausage patty. I haven't quite figured out how to figure my patty into my lean and green, so for now I'm omiting it, and still loving your recipes. Thank you!

This is so good and so filling! I did have one problem though. It all boiled over. So I threw it out and started again without the baking soda. I loved it!

Just so everyone knows, the spice pancakes do not work. I tried the chocolate chip ones and they were great. The spice stays doughy and never fully cook. I cooked them for three mins with our crazy powerful microwave and they never fully cooked. I use cheese power in place of cheese and it works great.

I made a spice muffin yesterday and it was fine.... Maybe you have a bad batch? I've noticed that some things are fresher that others in my orders....

I found your site last night. I tried to make the choco chip pancakes a few days ago according to the package...oh and what a mess, I did not even eat them. Then I found YOU! I made the choco chip pancakes like you said....AND OH MY GOSH, THIS IS THE BEST. I need to change my order before it comes so I can for sure have more of this. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS. IT'S AWESOME!!!

The pancakes are easy to make and come out great if you do 2 things... Add 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and BE Patient... Wait twice as long as you normally would... If you try to flip and it bunches up, let it be a bit longer.. My son who is autistic makes a pancake every morning ... After showing him how to be patient with it he makes beautiful pancakes .. :)

Has anyone tried this in an oven? We don't have a microwave?wondering if it would come out as fluffy and hate to waste a packet experimenting.

I was reading your recipes and they sounded interesting so I thought I'd try one for breakfast

OK so I am kinda skeptical when I try any medifast recipes as they can be hit or miss -- Second time on program with many months of weight loss ahead of me -- But I have to say this is really good -- I used regular pancake mix with a hint of salt, butter flavored Pam and this actually had a great texture and flavor that closely mimicked a buiscuit / muffin (wow) -- I used the egg mixture and a little cheese (didn't have the sausage in the freezer) and this was a hit !

Thank you so much for this !

On Optavia would this count as the daily Lean & Green meal? Or just a fueling?
