Wonderful News & Biggest Loser!

Many of you know that I stopped using Medifast to help save money to buy a house.

...drum roll please...

My husband and I closed on our home on 2/13/12!!!

We finally have room for our stuff! I am going to be setting up a home gym with my treadmill, Total Gym and place to do workout videos this weekend!

Now that we are all moved, I am ready to really focus on weight loss again.  Yes, I have gained back some weight but I need to move forward again!

Today was my week 1 weight in for the Biggest Loser contest at work.  We have a huge turnout this year, with 23 people participating.  I work fairly small company, less than 200 employees and under 150 people at this office.  I lost 3 lbs this week! That does put me at 12 out of 23 people, so I am going to really focus this week for a bigger number next week!  I am okay with 3 lbs though because I kinda blew it over the weekend.

As many of you know, I haven't used Medifast in sometime and regained weight when I stopped Medifast. My struggle is that I know Medifast works and I can lose weight on it, but that isn't how I want to live my life.  I want to find a way to eat, lose and maintain weight, in a way that is sustainable long term.

This week I have been attempting the Up Day, Down Day diet. In a nutshell, you eat a maintenance level of calories one day and the next eat very little.  On a Up Day, I could eat up to 2500 calories. On a Down Day, I could eat up to 500 calories.  On a weekly basis it averages to 1357 - 1642 calories per day (depending on if you have 3 or 4 Down Days that week) which is a great calorie defiect. This is a very similiar to intermittment fasting.  There are many people that eat this way for life.  I want to get a good grip on the Up Day, Down Day for another week and then I am going to add low carb eating to the equation.

Excited to see how my week 2 weigh in goes!

hiya! i have also regained after MF, but i never did the maintenance program either. i'm back on the MF to get this blubber off fast! after that, i'll do the maintenance program, and then.... i will go right back to weight watchers. it is the easiest diet i've ever done! i do lose weight on it but i'm impatient, so i went back to MF. I love love love weight watchers and their new points system. so easy!

anyway, i've only been following your blog for a few weeks, so i'm not sure if you've done WW. if not, it's really a great way to keep off weight, and unlike MF, it's totally livable... for real!

Congrats on your new home!! I too regained on MF, but that is because I chose to eat badly and have binge eating disorder. I am trying MF again, and after I am going to do low glycemic diet as it is recommended for PCOS, which I have. I look forward to seeing your Week 2 weigh in! Best of luck!!
Thanks everyone!

@Tiffany - I am on the same page as you! I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder before starting MF & have PCOS. When I lost weight on MF, my PCOS got much better. Still no baby dust though.
